Fishing...

We are located in Piscataquis County, in a semi remote area. There are more bodies of water to fish in this county  than any other county in Maine !

You can fish the West Branch of the Penobscot river, which offers some of the best Salmon fishing in the east.  Many lakes and ponds offer excellent fishing by many methods.  You can troll streamers in the early spring or you can troll deeper later in the year.  The many Trout ponds offer some fantastic fly fishing and many also allow fishing with bait.  Right here on Frost Pond we have seen a number of 3+ pound fish caught!  A trip to Baxter State Park for the day can be a rewarding memory.

You can access the ponds by driving and hiking, or a combination thereof.  Many of the ponds see only a handful of people each year!  The fish range in size from nice pan sized fish to wall hanger Trout.  Catch and release has become very popular with many anglers of late.  We encourage you to use good judgment with your decision.  Some bodies of water warrant keeping a few fish and others do not.  Some of the ponds have so many fish that you are actually doing the pond and remaining fish a favor by keeping a few to eat!  Be sure to check the regulations on each body of water that you fish to stay in "good graces" with the Game Wardens.

Ice fishing in this area can only be described as "wow".  Many folks have never seen ice fishing like what we have in this area.  A day on nearby Chesuncook Lake can be more productive than an entire winters fishing on many Salmon waters!  Salmon and White perch are the most caught species here, but  Lake Trout, Brook Trout and Splake are all found in this lake.  This is probably one of the most "underutilized" fisheries in the State of Maine.

Non-resident licenses and resident licenses available here at the camps.

This is the 8lb. 6oz. Splake that Jed caught this spring out of Frost Pond.
